Good country cooking and good portions for reasonable prices!
We go to Lucille's several times a month from Barnegat for breakfast and lunch. This is a small town cafe similar to what you find, if you are lucky, through the US. Food is great and staff is wonderful. You are treated like family. There is no cell service inside the cafe, so if you can't enjoy conversation without using your cell, this is not the place for you. We find it refreshing to see people actually have friendly conversations that sometimes will involve several tables and counter spots.
MoreWe love it here. Food is good. Service is quick. And the locals are nice.
Really cute country feel. Too buggy but food was good. Staff was really nice. Cash only!
MoreGreat down home cooking. Very family friendly. Welcoming staff, delicious food.
MoreFood is really good. Homemade pies are great too!
Best breakfast around. Servers great.
It's one of the greatest places for breakfast in Ocean County and they've been consistent for years can't beat it🎅🎅😎🇺🇲
MoreAlways a great experience coming here. Old fashioned feel when you walk in. You are greeted immediately by a most helpful waitress. The food is always delicious. When I think of a diner I think of two diners, the Tick Tock diner in Clifton, and Lucille's. A classic, never disappoints
MoreAlways look forward to stopping by when in the area. It feels like coming home! I was fortunate enough to meet the lovely Lucille years ago. The pictures on the wall tell her history of years ago. I have never been served a bad meal by the friendliest, nicest wait staff at Lucille's. Customers are always friendly, food is always fresh, and you never have 'sticker shock" when it comes to paying the bill!
MoreIt's not a very big place but it was really nice inside and it really felt like home. It's really nice to have breakfast at smaller places like this that make you feel welcome and part of the family. The cooking is always done with love and care and it was of course delicious. It is sort of in the middle of nowhere, but worth the drive.
MoreThis neighborly diner uses the same recipes and ingredients Lucille Bates-Wickward did when she opened Lucille’s Country Cooking in 1975. Bourdain sat at the far end of the bar and sampled a cup of chili, two eggs over easy (not the scrambled eggs pre-ordered for him), home fries, scrapple, rye toast and a slice of homemade blueberry pie.Don’t leave without a T-shirt proclaiming "I ate with the Jersey Devil," the legendary creature thought to inhabit the area.
MoreGreat breakfast. They say lunch is even better, next time.
Excellent breakfast. Old school jersey pines atmosphere. This is a regular stop for us
MoreLove this place. Been going here for the past 40 years. Miss Lucille but her daughter is doing a great job. The food is fantastic and they have the best, the best coleslaw ever. Pork roll and cheese on a hard roll is excellent and their chili Is very very good. They sell fresh baked pies in a lot of different flavors and they are enough to die for
MoreFood was delicious and comforting. The staff were amazing too. Thank you guys .This was my first time and will definitely be making more stops. 👍
MoreLove the breakfast selections and the muffins! The place was packed this morning but the wait was worth it. All the staff is friendly and do a great job providing excellent service!
MoreThe food here is awesome, best omelette I have ever had. Service is friendly and efficient. Goes to show you don’t have to be fancy to do things right. Can’t wait to go back
MoreTALK ABOUT HOME COOKING! WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK HERE PLUS THEY ARE SOOOO WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY.
Morewe have been stopping at lucille's for about 7 yrs now. the menu is outstanding. the food is outstanding. the owners treat you like family. took home a pie today. you may see the jersey devil on your way there. he's standing out front.
MoreThe service is outstanding! I visited on our way to Long Beach Island a couple weeks ago and actually needed to use the restroom but became nervous about how I would be received since I know a lot of establishments are not allowing outsiders to us their bathroom due to COVID. To my surprise, I was immediately greeted with warmth and respect. The two women who were working were SO nice and sweet! They made me feel so comfortable. Since I am a vegetarian, I couldn't really purchase anything to eat (to support them) since I know they mainly sell sandwiches, so I promised I would speak highly of them in this review. It's amazing how the little things go a long way because my encounter with them significantly saved my day and improved my mood. I wish them all the best and hope they continue to succeed!
MoreFood was outstanding. I always enjoy a trip to Luctlle's!
Top Service, Comfortable and Cozey Dining Area, Fresh Food, Great Specials. Top Notch !!
MoreSmall cozy place in the woods. Great food & people
Good to be back!😃
Bar none this is the place to get a great meal at a great price, servers friendy also, and the atmosphere is just down the earth, and Don't forget to buy a t shirt l always get guestions about this place when l wear mine
MoreFood was tasty, but the service was wonderful.
Small place to stop over for lunch or breakfast. The lady that served us was all by herself however she was fast efficient and did not forget the order. Food tasted as it should. Bathroom was clean. Yes we would stop by again when in the area. Place was a bit impersonal and slight lack of hospitality, however it maybe she was by herself alone at the front running it.
MoreBack in time...best home cook meal. Best service Best prices. We'll be back
My first time ever going here and I must say it was a phenomenal experience. The food tastes like your mom made it and they treat you like you're family. They even went out of their way to sing happy birthday to me and give me a free slice of homemade apple pie. If I'm ever in this part of New Jersey again I will definitely visit again.
MoreThis place SLAPS!!! 👋🏻
Staff is excellent. Food was great and did not take a long time to get. They were packed the whole time we were there and the service never suffered. Wholly recommend you go and check out the home of the Jersey Devil. Take a picture with him out front.
MoreDefinitely enjoyed breakfast. Had a pork roll and cheddar omelet. Was big and piping hot. They use four eggs per omelet. Seating could be hard to get at peak times. Don't miss a chance to snap a pic with The Jersey Devil either.
MoreThey even accommodated for my Celiac issue with gluten free bread. 😋
Fun, friendly, & fresh homemade food! Had breakfast here. Local place with a neighborhood history. It's small so be prepared to wait a bit if you are there at popular times but it's worth it. Gluten free options including bread. Looking forward to checking out lunch!
MoreLocated in the Pine Barrens in Warren Grove on Route 539, halfway between Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway, Lucille’s Country Cooking has been our favorite Jersey Diner for over 15 years. Sadly, Lucille passed away in 2016 but her daughters, granddaughter and friend carry on the tradition. Part of the Anthony Bourdain Southern New Jersey Food Trail, Lucille’s is small in size but huge in friendly atmosphere and service. Their omelets are the best (try the Jersey Omelet, my favorite) and all their food is made fresh to order. They can be a little busy on weekends but it’s always worth the wait!
MoreCan't say enough about Lucille's. We have enjoyed so many meals there from breakfast to lunch to dessert. Excellent food. Personable staff. Great place. Pies to go are so delicious. Love love love it there!
MoreCozy little down home breakfast and lunch eatery. Friendly service. Breakfast eggs, home fries and french toast were very good. A lot of food for a low price.
Moresmall place but very cozy didn't have trouble getting a table for two at lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was wonderful! The atmosphere was local Friendly! I would recommend this place to anyone for breakfast or lunch! My first visit and I will be back! Love this place!
MoreThe food was great! We ordered a four egg omelet and two Belgian waffles with strawberries. They were wonderful! We had zero issues with the food and our waitress was sweet. We were disappointed when it came down to the check. We were never told ahead of time there would be an extra charge for splitting the waffles. Instead of getting charged for two waffles together, we were charged for two individual waffles which made it more expensive. We didn’t say anything because we don’t really like confrontation. It was still a really good breakfast, but we would have appreciated being told that ahead of time and would have only ordered one waffle if we knew.
MoreGreat road side diner! Awesome food at a great price, family run and very friendly! Limited seating but they were moving fast!
MoreGood food fun atmosphere price is right
Have to try this place at least once for breakfast or lunch. The wait for our food was about 40 minutes. But it was cute that pretty much everybody knew everybody. It's a no frills kinda place to have a decent meal.if you have patience, which I'm sure everybody down south in New Jersey does!😊
MoreYou always know you will get a good meal with warm, friendly service. A must stop for the Pinelands enthusiast. Lucille's offers Jersey Devil t-shirts and hoodies in a wide variety of colors. Of all the depictions of the Jersey Devil I have seen, this one is an absolute piece of art!
MoreExcellent food and fast attentive service. I had stuffed French toast with peanut butter and bananas and my wife had eggs and bacon. Small place but very cozy , regulars were friendly and talkative. Prices are very reasonable. Will be back soon and will be worth the 30 minute ride.
MoreSausage gravy and biscuits was a huge plate with lots of sausage and the biscuit was the size of the plate. Massive amount of food and calories for $9. Very tasty. Been driving past here for years, finally stopped. Well worth it.
MoreReally great food and employees that care! Prices are great and portions are large!
MoreGreat country atmosphere, great food and service
This nostalgic cafe has a great variety of breakfast and lunch items. I got the veggie omelette which was over flowing with veggies and the grits were good as well, I also had turkey bacon which was thick and tasty and homefries with onions which were tasty as well. They had a long list of daily soups available for lunch and they seem to have a group of loyal customers at the breakfast bar that are probably there everyday because they all knew each other and the waitress working there knew all their names. This was a small place bursting with big flavors.
MoreGreat food, way out of the way. Usually just locals in there. Worth the trip. Buy a Jersey Devil shirt while there.
